Call to Ministry
I answered the call to ministry from my home church in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The United Methodist Church is the only church in which I have been a member. At the time, I was working 50 hours a week and began attending college to complete my 4 year degree. It’s a great story how it all began– ask me about it! I’d love to tell you the full story.
I appreciate working together as a team in a collaborative style. Because I love music, I use the Student Conductor as a metaphor for my leadership style – the Student Conductor is the one who sets the tuning note for the orchestra, making sure that all sections are on the same frequency. When the Maestro (the Holy Spirit of God) comes to lead and guide, the Student Conductor has a role to play along with the other musicians. Thus, setting the tone and working together in harmony allows the music of the spheres to rise up to the heavens with praise and thanksgiving!
Leadership Gifts for Ministry
I believe I am a good listener and can relate to people in positive ways. I perceive I have a good sense of organizational and management skills, honed by life experience, by college training, and by growing up in a family of ten children! I enjoy the privilege of preaching and leading small groups for study or reflection. I also have very good computer skills which I strive to use in supporting the ministry. I enjoy singing in the choir (or solo), playing the trombone, and the drums in a praise band setting (I have my own drum set!)
I understand my theological perspective to be evangelical, with an open heart to be able to hear others who might come at faith from a different perspective. The Church as the Body of Christ has a fabulous message to share with the world!
Nancy is a Certified Nursing Assistant who enjoys walking, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren! She is currently employed in Rochester at a care facility. I have been trained as a Stephens Ministry Leader and as a leader in the Disciple Bible Study series. I enjoy walking (with Nancy), playing golf & softball, am a sports enthusiast (long-suffering Minnesota sports fan), playing trombone, singing tenor in choir (or solo), playing drums in the praise band and I love spending time with my grandchildren.
