Local Missions

Love INC

Love In the Name of Christ of Worthington is a group of local churches that want to do more to help their community.  As a result of this desire, they formed a local Love INC affiliate.  This affiliate is based on a proven national model that networks local churches, church volunteers and community organizations together to help people in need. Through Love INC, churches and individual Christians are mobilized to work together, across denominational lines, to provide coordinated help to neighbors in need with basics such as food and clothing, to longer-term responses such as life skills training and transitional housing programs.

Founded in 1977, today there are more than 150 Love INC affiliates in 30 states, representing a network of more than 9,000 churches, 6,000 community-based organizations, and 300,000 volunteers meeting more than one million needs each year. The Love INC National Movement assists communities in developing new affiliates and supports existing affiliates by providing training, technical assistance, marketing materials, networking opportunities and best practices.

Manna Food Pantry

First United Methodist Church supports the local food pantry with both monetary gifts and food donations.  We collect canned goods/non persishable food items at many times throughout the year.

Community Christmas Baskets

First United Methodist supports this community ministry monetarily and through volunteer support of the set up, packing and delivery of the Christmas baskets to those less fortunate during the Christmas season.

Backpacks for Back To School

FUMC gives both monetarily and materially to this important mission project. Backpacks, along with many of the general needs for the school year, are given away to those students who would be unable to afford all of the necessary items that they need to be successful in school, such as glue sticks, pens, paper, notebooks and markers.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of The Banquet ministry. Our mission is to equip volunteers to provide food and fellowship to those served through this ministry. We provide a safe place where people can gather, receive nourishment and experience love in action. Volunteer groups come from churches, businesses, service clubs, schools and individual families.
